Singer/songwriter Michael Buble’ (one of my favorite musicians) sang “it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day” in his popular song “I’m Feeling Good.” That’s exactly how we feel at Searcy Public Schools this week as we welcomed students for the 2019-2020 school year.

Teachers and staff kicked off the year on August 5th with a week of professional development and planning for our students to arrive this past Tuesday. At our annual district-wide program and lunch, administrators and members of the district leadership team unveiled the 2019-2020 theme, which is “Can’t Stop the Beat of Searcy Public Schools”! The SHS band percussion and flag lines opened the morning with the beat of drums and colorful flags, and throughout the program all campuses and departments were recognized. As tradition, Searcy businesses/individuals donated door prizes for teachers and staff. We would like to thank the following for their gracious support of our educators and support staff—

  • Riverwind Bank
  • Stokes Electric and I-Do Rentals
  • First Southern Bank
  • Dacus Rental and Sales
  • Main Street Searcy
  • First Security Bank
  • White County Farm Bureau-Ronnie McFarland
  • Diane Barrett
  • Centennial Bank

We also want to thank our parents and patrons for the smooth start to the school year. It’s always exciting to begin a new school year, and we wouldn’t be able to do it effectively without the help of our students’ parents/caregivers. Because after all, you can’t stop the beat of Searcy students, staff, and community! We wish all a wonderful school year!
