Searcy School District food service department strives daily to provide our students with healthy, tasty meals throughout the school year. Our children receive breakfast and lunch at each one of our campuses, and our food service employees not only distribute food, but they also share their smiling faces and words of encouragement to our students who walk through the food line each day.

Unfortunately, we know that these 10 healthy meals our young people receive Monday through Friday may be the only nutritious meals that some of our students receive throughout the entire week. We are very grateful for local churches, civic clubs, and community volunteers who contribute to our weekend backpack programs, so many of our students can enjoy healthy snacks and meals over the weekend.

It is difficult for us to think that some of our students may not receive any sustainable meals during the summer months, and that is why we participate in the Summer Food Service Program throughout the month of June.  Meals will be provided to all children (age 18 and under) without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service. Our food service employees will offer healthy breakfasts and lunches at Sidney Deener Elementary School from June 4th -June 29th (Monday through Friday) with breakfast being served from 8:00-8:30 A.M., and lunch being served from 11:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M.

Food service director Charlotte Davis believes this program is important for our community. “So many of our students depend on us to provide them with the security of safe, nutritious meals during the regular school year, and some of our families are unable to provide well-rounded meals for their children, so I am very pleased that we can provide the opportunity for them to receive three more weeks of healthy breakfasts and lunches during the summer!”

We hope our families will take advantage of this opportunity, and we look forward to seeing them June 4th-29th. For more information on the Searcy Public Schools Summer Food Service Program, contact Charlotte Davis at (501)268-3517 or
