 *Attention: Parent VolunteersSearcy Public Schools invite you to attend a parent volunteer training workshop on Tuesday, September 28th at the Searcy Public Schools Administration Office from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.E-mail Betsy Bailey, School/Community Coordinator, at or call at 268-3517 if you are able to attend.Parents who will be volunteering in the district schools for the 2010-2011 school year are encouraged to attend. *FCCLA meeting for members and anyone interested in joining-Wednesday, September 8 at 7:35am in FACS room 104.  Breakfast will be provided.  Dues may be paid at that time $12.00 *9th Grade Basketball: New none football students need to be at Jr. High School Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:30 for basketball tryouts. *Congratulations to Anna Katherine Featherston for being chosen the Olympian Sweetheart. TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS:  If you wish to receive a copy of your transcript for college admissions, scholarship applications, etc. you need to complete a request form in the East Office.  You may see Ms. Daves if you have any questions.  The request will be submitted and you may come back to pick up the transcript after a 24 hour period.  (YOU DO NOT NEED A TRANSCRIPT TO TAKE THE DRIVERS TEST, you will need to sign a list in Ms. Daves’ office requesting a state form, you may pick up the form after a 24 hour period.) Race for the Cure – The 17th Annual Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, October 16th.  If you would like to be a part of the Searcy Schools team, you can register online at:  http://www.komenarkansas.org/  The team name is:  Searcy Schools and the password is lions.  You do not have to actually walk or run in the race to be a member of the Searcy team.  You can still register to support Breast Cancer Awareness in Arkansas and to get an official race t-shirt.   The cost to register is $26.  The Searcy team will also have a team t-shirt for sale.  Short sleeve t-shirts are $10 and long sleeves are $13.  Recognized on the team t-shirt are breast cancer survivors and those whose lives have been taken by cancer.  If you would like to submit a name for the t-shirt, or to order a t-shirt please see Mrs. Cunningham in room 326.  You can also pick up a registration form in Mrs. Cunningham’s room if you are not able to register online.  We look forward to you being a part of the Searcy Schools Race for the Cure Team!    Performing Arts CenterThere is a sign up sheet in the East Office for any student interested in helping with lights, sound, spotlight, curtains, or PowerPoint during various events that happen in the Performing Arts Center during the school year.  If you have worked for Mrs. Chance before, you need not sign up.  She will be contacting you about a beginning of the year meeting.The deadline to sign up is Friday September 10th.  Please contact Mrs. K Chance with any questions you may have. Any new student to the district, (not new 9th graders coming from Ahlf Jr. High) needs to come by the Guidance Center to pick up a Parent Involvement Center Materials listing. *The Honors House at Harding University is restarting their tutoring program on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:00. Interested students may contact them via e-mail at  There will be a 9th grade pep rally Sept. 9th    CLUBS & ORGANIZATION:Key Club will hold its first meeting of the year next Tuesday (9/7) morning at 7:35 in the cafeteria.  Students interested in joining the Key Club may begin picking up applications from Dr. Watson at the end of next week.  Preference will be given to underclassmen, but seniors may apply as well.  NHS MEMBERS: You need to come by Mrs. Chance’s or Mrs. Rose’s room to pay your $10 dues by Tuesday, September 7th. You will also vote for sweetheart at this time. If you do not pay your dues, you will not be able to vote for sweetheart. Our first meeting will be held in Mrs. Rose’s room on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:29 am.Spanish Club Members: You need to come by Miss Haynes’ room to vote for sweetheart by Wednesday, September 8th. You must pay your $5 dues or you will not be able to vote for sweetheart.
