STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS •Friday •September 10, 2010           www.searcyschools.org

 *The Arkansas School for Math and Science representative, Mr. Kyle McCourt will be at our school on Thursday, September 16 at 9:00. If you are a 10th grader with a 3.5 GPA and are interested in attending the Arkansas School for Math and Science, please sign up in the Guidance Center.  *It’s almost time to order your 2011 Lion yearbook!  Order forms will be completed in your English class on Wednesday, September 15.  No money will be accepted at that time; only orders for the book will be taken.  Complete your order form for a chance to win $50 in cash. *Senior Recognition ads for the 2011 Lion Yearbook are due by September 29, 2010.  Contact Mrs. Holeyfield or Ms. Brown for more information.  Extra ad forms are located in both the East and West offices. *FCCLA-Members, who paid dues before September 2, stop by to pick up Fair Day permission slips.  Trip will be September 15th. *NHS: The deadline for NHS dues has been extended until Tuesday, Sept 21 which will be our first meeting date. Please see Mrs. Chance or Mrs. Rose to pay your $10 dues. It is too late to vote for sweetheart,  but you can still pay dues for membership. *Congratulations to Chelsey Butler HOSA sweetheart. Performing Arts Center:  There is a sign up sheet in the East Office for any student interested in helping with lights, sound, spotlight, curtains, or PowerPoint during various events that happen in the Performing Arts Center during the school year.  If you have worked for Mrs. Chance before, you need not sign up.  She will be contacting you about a beginning of the year meeting.  The deadline to sign up is Friday September 10th.  Please contact Mrs. K Chance with any questions you may have. Race for the Cure – The 17th Annual Komen Arkansas Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, October 16th.  If you would like to be a part of the Searcy Schools team, you can register online at:  http://www.komenarkansas.org/  The team name is:  Searcy Schools and the password is lions.  You do not have to actually walk or run in the race to be a member of the Searcy team.  You can still register to support Breast Cancer Awareness in Arkansas and to get an official race t-shirt.   The cost to register is $26.  The Searcy team will also have a team t-shirt for sale.  Short sleeve t-shirts are $10 and long sleeves are $13.  Recognized on the team t-shirt are breast cancer survivors and those whose lives have been taken by cancer.  If you would like to submit a name for the t-shirt, or to order a t-shirt please see Mrs. Cunningham in room 326.  You can also pick up a registration form in Mrs. Cunningham’s room if you are not able to register online.  We look forward to you being a part of the Searcy Schools Race for the Cure Team!    There will be a meeting at 7:30 Friday morning in the gym for all sweethearts and royalty.  Escorts do not need to attend.  If you cannot make the 7:30 meeting there will be another meeting Friday afternoon at 3:10 in the gym.  Please make plans to attend one of these meeting.  All information about the homecoming assembly and field festivities will be given out at this time.  If you have any questions please see Coach Cramblett.     CLUBS & ORGANIZATION:Beta Club will have the first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 15th, at 7:30 in the cafeteria. Beta members who have paid their dues are considered active and should attend this meeting. See Mrs. White or Mrs. Holman if you have any questions.  Please sign-up for Get Down Downtown outside of Mrs. White or Mrs. Holman’s classrooms.  It will be Saturday, September 25th at Spring Park.  You will be working in the children’s area working the games.FBLA members intending to attend the Fall Leadership Conference on September 28 at Arkansas Tech must have their dues paid by September 10 and their fundraisers turned in also on September 10. See Mrs. Latimer or Lauren Brandon this week.French Club will meet Friday morning in the cafeteria at 7:30. Please pay your dues by then.Spanish Club Members: Our first meeting will be held in Miss Haynes room on Tuesday, September 14 at 7:30 am.  Any student who would like to join must pay their dues before or at this meeting.Student Council will meet in the library on Thursday, September 16 at 7:40.  All newly elected class officers and representatives as well as club presidents should attend.Youth to Youth will have a meeting Sept. 16th at 7:30am in room 114 (Mrs. Butler).
