[Searcy, AR], [3/27/24] – EAST at Searcy High School is a 2024 Casey’s Cash for Classrooms grant recipient. The program wrote a grant on behalf of Searcy Christian Academy, formally Liberty Christian, in the amount $40,889 to bring their playground more up-to-date.

“We are grateful to receive a Cash for Classrooms grant from Casey’s and are excited to complete this important work/project that will improve our students’ ability to learn and grow at Searcy Christian Academy each day,” said Kelly Martin, facilitator for the EAST program.  “Casey’s is a great community partner that gives back to many schools across its footprint, including ours, through this program.”

A spokesperson for the company said, "Through Casey's Cash for Classrooms program, our grants are providing meaningful impact, helping create better learning environments and improving the lives of children and educators. Casey’s is grateful to be in a position to provide support for our communities and the schools and families, who work tirelessly to prepare our next generation of leaders.”

The project at Searcy Christian Academy involves the EAST students Chloe Duncan and Stephanie Torres. They have spent the last year and a half researching and pricing all the materials that will be needed, ensuring DHS guidelines are in place, and writing the grant. They have partnered with Katie Williams, principal at Searcy Christian Academy, as well as other companies around Searcy.  The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

“SCA is so pleased to accept this grant! We have been welcoming lots of growth and change, so it seems fitting that our outdoor space be updated along with other exciting changes this year! Mostly it’s encouraging to see what can happen when people work together. We’re sure thankful for this partnership with Searcy EAST!” said Katie Williams, principal of Searcy Christian Academy.
