This message is for parents of SHS Seniors: The deadline to order and pay for a yearbook ad for your senior is this Friday, September 30. Order forms were sent home with your student on picture day, but extras are in both offices. If you have questions, please email the yearbook staff at shsyearbookadviser@searcyschools.org.

Searcy School District is pleased to announce that Searcy High School senior Gaby Sledge has been named a 2023 National Merit Semifinalist. Sledge is the daughter of Joe and Tricia Sledge. She is one of 16,000 Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program who scored high on the PSAT. Sledge will compete along with other academically high achieving students for approximately 7,250 National Merit Scholarships totaling nearly $28 million. The finalists will be announced through nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July. Searcy School District will honor Gaby at a reception later this fall. Congratulations to Gaby Sledge for this outstanding achievement!

New Course Offering for High School Students! Searcy High School has added a new course called Critical Reading I for the 2022-2023 school year. Critical Reading I is a two-semester course designed to accelerate reading growth by strengthening comprehension outcomes. This is not a remediation course, but an elective course to help students. Students who pass this course will receive one elective credit. Congratulations to the Searcy Lady Lions for being named #6 in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches for the High School Girls Poll Division! We are so proud of the achievements of this team and their coaches. Go Lady Lions!

Please join SHS on August 9th for our first-ever Sign the Lion event! We will distribute 2021-2022 yearbooks and host a signing party. SHS Classes of '23 & '24 who have already purchased a parking spot will be able to decorate their spots with chalk. We will have food trucks and music and hope to see everyone there!
