WHAT:             Second graders at Sidney Deener Elementary School will be the lucky recipients of new bicycles and helmets thanks to a donation from Walmart through the Wish for Wheels program.

Wish for Wheels is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower children, families, and communities through the gift of a new bike and helmet. Approximately 30 Walmart associate volunteers will assemble brand new bicycles, which will then be distributed to all 100 2nd graders for them to take home and enjoy with their families. Students will also receive bicycle helmets to ensure safety as they enjoy the newfound joy of riding a bike.

WHEN:            Wednesday, April 24, 2024

10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST

LOCATION:      Sidney Deener Elementary School Gymnasium

163 Cloverdale Blvd, Searcy, AR 72143

The media is invited to join us at Sidney Deener Elementary between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to share in the excitement as students are presented with their new bicycles. Interested media should contact Betsy Bailey at bbailey@searcyschools.org or (501) 230-7134.

Editor’s Note: A Walmart truck will deliver the bikes to Sidney Deener Elementary School at approximately 10 a.m. CST on April 24. Walmart associates will assemble the 100 bikes between 10:30 a.m. and noon in the school’s gymnasium. At 12:30, 2nd graders will come out to receive their new bikes and helmets.  Media are welcome to film and photograph throughout the event.
