Searcy School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Zak Clark as the Searcy High School head football coach at tonight’s regularly scheduled school board meeting. Clark currently serves as the Springdale Bulldogs head coach and assistant athletic director. During his tenure at Springdale High School, he led a previously 0-10 football team to four straight playoff appearances and hosted the first home playoff game since 2005. His former positions have included offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for Fayetteville High School and the University of Central Arkansas. Clark is a graduate of UCA where he lettered in football and baseball and set a state collegiate record for passing in 2002. Before UCA, he played quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 1999-2001 and played in the 2002 Cotton Bowl. Additionally, Clark holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He puts much emphasis on coach/athlete mentorship as he instituted the “Manhood” program fostering leadership and life skills for his players, and he initiated the 1:1 mentorship program for players through a partnership with Springdale community leaders. His teams have logged over 3,500 community service hours in the last four years. Clark says of his new position, “I am excited to get to Searcy, meet the people in the community, coaches, and especially the players at Searcy High School.  I couldn’t be more excited to be the head coach at Searcy.“ We welcome Coach Clark to the Searcy School District family!
