Principals

Searcy School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors filled two building level administration positions tonight at a special-called board meeting. Dr. Bobby Hart, superintendent of schools, recommended David Landers as the Searcy High School principal, and Brian Cossey as the Ahlf Junior High School principal, and the Board of Education accepted both recommendations.

David Landers is the current assistant principal at Searcy High School and also served as assistant principal at Southwest Middle School from 2017-2021. He is known within the district for his strong leadership skills and effective communication with students and staff alike. Landers holds an Education Specialist degree from Arkansas State University.  He served as a teacher and administrator in both the Bald Knob and Lonoke School Districts prior to joining the Searcy School District.

Ahlf Junior High School will welcome Brian Cossey to its campus for the 2022-2023 school year. Cossey currently acts as the Director of Operations and Federal Programs in the Jasper School District. Other roles in education have included high school principal, elementary principal, assistant principal and teacher/coach at various school districts across Arkansas. Cossey earned his Master of Science in School Leadership from the University of Central Arkansas in 2004 and his superintendent’s certification from Harding University in 2007.

Dr. Bobby Hart remarks “We are excited about what both Mr. Landers and Mr. Cossey will bring to their respective campuses in regard to student learning, school culture, and staff leadership. Both are highly qualified individuals who are a great fit for these roles.”  Searcy School District offers congratulations to both Mr. Landers and Mr. Cossey, and we look forward to them bringing their experience and leadership to Searcy Public Schools.
